Here is a bit of information for you. If you are interested, we can provide more information along with a video tour.
The home is in Maple Valley by Lake Wilderness in a small neighborhood with no through streets, so it is very quiet and private and one of the reasons we love it.
Drive times without traffic are 30 mins to Georgetown and SoDo, 35 mins to Downtown Seattle, 30 mins to Bellevue, 30 mins to Tacoma, 45 mins to Snoqualmie Pass, 1 hour 10 mins to Crystal Mountain, and 2 hours to Mt Rainier’s Paradise parking lot.
We are Tyler and Kylie! We live on the upstairs level of the house and own the house. We have rented rooms in our previous home in Seattle and have had great experiences. We moved here in March 2024 and love it. The commute is longer to Tyler’s work in Georgetown but to us it is worth the additional drive time for the location where we live now.
We are in our late 30’s. Tyler is a Construction Project Manager in commercial HVAC and plumbing. Kylie is an elementary school teacher. We both enjoy the outdoors, skiing, backpacking, mountaineering, and traveling. We enjoy spending time with friends and family. Kylie loves cooking and sharing meals and Tyler is frequently working on home improvements. We both strive to be eco-friendly.
We have two very friendly Chocolate Labs, Woodrow and Theodore, who are brothers that are 5 years old. We still call them puppies and they still have an amazing amount of energy. They love everyone and are always excited to greet you and say hello. Most people find they are a bonus to have around and come home to their enthusiastic welcome greetings! They even have the ability to win over non-dog people. : )
Although our dogs will not have access to your private living space, we are looking for an individual who is excited to have our pups around.
The space is on the lower level of a two-story split-level home. We are the second owners of the home and it was very well cared for by the first owners. The space is currently an open canvas in regards to furniture and layout and we can provide some furniture or you can set it up with your own. Let’s discuss what you need.
There is a ½ bathroom on the lower level which will be private to you. The laundry room is connected to the bathroom which will also be private to you. (We have separate laundry in the garage.) Upstairs there is a full bathroom in the hallway which is for your use. The upstairs hallway bathroom will primarily be private to you, we occasionally use it but not for showering so there won’t be conflicts when you want to use it. When we occasionally have guests, they would use it.
There is a kitchenette set up in your living space that is private to you, with a two-compartment toaster oven, microwave, electric tea kettle with temperature setting controls, a refrigerator and freezer, and water dispenser. When you need to use a full kitchen, you are welcome to use the kitchen upstairs. There is an additional refrigerator and freezer in the garage that is shared, so plenty of space to stock up.
You have a sliding glass door that opens to the backyard.
There is street parking in front of the house.
The property is 0.35 acres, flat, and includes forest in the backyard. Detached from the house is a 400 SF deck with large fire pit. You can walk out the back gate into the Lake Wilderness Arboretum which connects to Lake Wilderness Park for a total of 117 acres directly connected to our backyard. Lake Wilderness is a 10 minute (0.4 miles) walk from the backyard. Bring your stand up paddleboard!
Although your living space will be separate and we will be busy with our own schedules, it is important to us to share our home with an individual that is community minded, communicative, friendly, self-aware, respectful, kind, and that is looking for a place to call home while they are here. We are interested in knowing those around us, desire to cross paths and open to sharing time together in the backyard or occasionally having a meal together when schedules allow, but not a requirement.
If you are interested, please let us know about you and why you think this could be a good fit!
We are looking forward to hearing from you!
Tyler and Kylie
