Navaho Pass Backpacking Trip
Navaho Pass Difficult Backpack
Sep 26–28, 7:00am, Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, $30, 14 miles, 4,200 feet gain (total), Difficult
Be hyped for Navaho Pass Backpacking trip! It is a stunning backpacking adventure to Navaho Pass, a perfect introduction to the Teanaway Range with its rugged ridges, fascinating geology, late-season wildflowers, views of Mt. Stuart and the edge of the Enchantments, and larches starting to turn gold. The trip would be 14 miles, 4,200 feet gain (total), and from September 26 to 28.
We’ll begin early on September 26 from the Stafford Creek Trailhead, hike through dry, open forest alive with colorful blooms like lupine, Indian paintbrush, tiger lilies, glacier lilies, and larches, following the burbling creek before climbing steep switchbacks and easing into meadow-lined trails.
We'll meet at Bethany Green Lake at 7:00 am on Friday, 9/26. We'll cook dinner and breakfast together as a group. Please plan on bringing your lunches and snacks. Please do not make inflexible evening plans for September 28th, as we might get back late. Please note that given the weather is less predictable in late September, we might need to make changes to the plan. We’ll know at least a few days before how the forecast is shaping up.
