Ross Lake Beginner Backpack

Saturday to Sunday, August 3–4, Ross Lake - Roland Creek Group Camp, $20, 6 miles, 1000ft gain

Join your leaders Allison, Priscilla, and Tim for this two-day, one night beginner-friendly backpack! We’ll be exploring Ross Lake in the North Cascades as we gain new skills and reflect on themes of self sufficiency and reliance.

This trip is designed to be welcoming to someone who’s comfortable with moderate day hikes, but brand new to backpacking. We’ll follow the Eastbank Trail for 6 miles, with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain, and camp at Roland Creek Campground as a group.

After setting up camp, we’ll enjoy fellowship over a meal and connect on our experiences so far. If the group is interested, we may take an optional short hike from camp to see the lake. The next day, we’ll retrace our steps to hike out. Bring a sack lunch and trail snacks, and we'll bring dinner and breakfast.

Need to borrow some gear? Just let us know! In the weeks before the trip, we’ll check in with participants individually and as a group to go over gear lists, borrowing gear, and introduce some skill building before we depart. Plan to keep the evening of Friday, August 2, open for a brief meet up at Bethany Greenlake with your packs to go through gear together and any final logistics for the trip. We are looking forward to it!
