Aurora Commons

The Aurora Commons is a neighborhood living room that provides a safe space of hospitality to rest and pursue relationships, and it provides resources for those in need along the Aurora corridor. The Commons was originally established by churches in 2011; they host weekly open hours, wound and foot care services, a mobile medical clinic, and women’s-only programming and drop-in times. Most importantly, they act on the belief that each person deserves dignity, love, and respect. Lahai Health

Lahai Health, formerly Puget Sound Christian Clinic (PSCC) is a free, roaming Seattle clinic providing health care to underserved people in King and Snohomish Counties. All sorts of skills and gifts are needed to staff this clinic, even beyond doctors and nurses! Check out their clinic locations. We partner with them to host a clinic site at the Aurora Commons on the first and third Wednesday evenings of every month. Learn more at lahai.org.

World Relief Seattle

World Relief Seattle empowers the local Church to come alongside refugees and immigrants throughout the Puget Sound region. It provides resettlement, employment, language, and legal services to help our newest neighbors work towards self-sufficiency. Find volunteer opportunities at worldreliefseattle.org.

In accordance with its mission for refugees and immigrants to be welcomed by community, rooted in community, and empowered for community, BCC has partnered with WRS to form Good Neighbor Teams (see video below). These teams of lay volunteers from different BCC locations are equipped and invited to walk alongside a refugee or Asylee family through the initial six month resettlement process. Our aim is to nurture relationships with families and individuals that are lasting, promote human flourishing, and are mutually transformative. Email Nathan Nelson for info on the next GNT.

Each year, riders from across BCC join together in World Relief Seattle's Sea-Tri-Kan: Ride for Refugee Resiliency. Team BCC rides alongside others from Seattle to Spokane, raising funds and demonstrating their support for welcoming the stranger. Consider joining us this year! Learn more and register here.

Youthwise Mentoring

In accordance with Bethany’s focus on partnership with our local public schools, we have partnered with Youth Wise Mentoring to match Bethany congregants with especially vulnerable students to provide enriching mentoring relationships. Mentors commit to weekly activities for a minimum of one year with their mentees. Mentors are connected with a coach from among Bethany’s congregation to provide additional support and guidance along the way.

Olive Crest | Strong Families

Bethany’s approach to foster & adoption ministry is multi-faceted. As part of its response, we have partnered with Olive Crest’s Strong Families program to come alongside vulnerable families prior to the point of separation. This preventative program equips a team from Bethany to provide temporary (1-3 weeks at a time) respite for children while their parents receive the help they need to restore stability and maintain guardianship over their kids. Bethany congregants are trained to provide key roles including being a temporary host home, family coach, or host support person.

Urban Impact | Entrepreneur Mentorship & Coaching

As part of Bethany’s growing awareness of the racial and socioeconomic divides in our city, we have developed a partnership with Urban Impact to invest in the dignity and wellbeing of underserved communities in South Seattle. Young entrepreneurs from among the South Seattle community are seeking to put their ideas into action, creating sustainable businesses to significantly improve the economic wellbeing of their community and maintain one’s cultural identity integrally tied to this place. Join others from across Bethany locations as we are equipped and matched as mentors for local business owners, providing important encouragement and guidance along their journey of entrepreneurship. Or, become a coach, providing a specific area of needed expertise to further develop the viability, sustainability, and profit margin of these emerging businesses.
