The 2020 Advent Devotional was created in tandem with a special Advent Box containing materials to complete each activity/practice at the beginning of the week. However, if you did not receive a box, most of the activities can be recreated with items from around your house or neighborhood! We look forward to celebrating this season of hope and expectation with you—share your photos on social media and tag us along the way @bethanygreenlake!

Discussion Questions
Before questions, attempt to give the group a bit of a summary of the main points of the sermon and then choose a few questions that fit your group’s needs and style. We don’t intend for you to use all of these. Three to five questions may be a good number.

Consider the vision here at Bethany Green Lake in the coming year for the church to be a place where we receive the vision, resources, courage and support to the do the work of transformation.

What role do you play as part of the church in implementing the four facets of this vision?

How does this look different (or not) with corporation worship online?

Read: 1 Corinthians 13:11; Hebrews 5:11-14

How is growth only possible if we move from the personal reconciliation (salvation) layer to include soul deliverance?

In a year of many trials, both collective and individual, where have you seen Christ address and resolve a broken part of a story through the trials?

Knowing that one could go to church their entire life and still be stuck with an undeveloped soul, what do you think are barriers to soul development, even in a spiritual setting?

Your spirit/soul/body is an ecosystem, when have you experienced one component affecting the other(s)?

How do you know your gifts, and what elements of them are affirmed by others?

Repeatedly Pastor Richard encourages us to continue learning and growing, especially in the context of community, do you have a sense of what your next step might be?

Salvation changes our relationship to systems. Take a moment to read about our church’s commitment to racial justice and reconciliation.

As every element of creation expresses the Creator; share a transcendent experience you have had in creation.
