The 2020 Advent Devotional was created in tandem with a special Advent Box containing materials to complete each activity/practice at the beginning of the week. However, if you did not receive a box, most of the activities can be recreated with items from around your house or neighborhood! We look forward to celebrating this season of hope and expectation with you—share your photos on social media and tag us along the way @bethanygreenlake!

1. Read Psalm 1:3. What sort of life does this verse envision for people? From what does the tree draw the resources it needs to produce fruit?
2. In Jesus‘ three tours of Galilee in Luke, what are the three stages through which Jesus moves his disciples?
3. At which of the stages do you primarily see yourself?
4. In progressing from consumer to learner to doer, Richard says identifying your calling or your gifting is key. How has God gifted you?
5. How can the gifts God has given you contribute to the kingdom of God?
6. What prevents you from living into your full potential in following Jesus?
7. Read Luke 9:12–17. Did the disciples have what they needed to do what Jesus called them to do?
8. Jesus feeds the multitude without having what he needed (a lot of food). What does this teach the disciples and us about how we can live into our calling when we don’t have what we need?
9. Have you ever experienced Jesus’s provision when you decided to obey your calling but did not have what you needed to do so?
10. How do you think you are gifted and how do you think you are called to use your gifts for the kingdom of God?
11. Do you feel equipped to live into your calling?
12. How can you take a step toward moving from consumer to learner or from the learner to doer?
13. Pray for this forward movement.
