The 2020 Advent Devotional was created in tandem with a special Advent Box containing materials to complete each activity/practice at the beginning of the week. However, if you did not receive a box, most of the activities can be recreated with items from around your house or neighborhood! We look forward to celebrating this season of hope and expectation with you—share your photos on social media and tag us along the way @bethanygreenlake!

· What have you learned/heard in the messages over the last few weeks? What have you taken to heart?
· What comes to mind when you think of meditation? What comes to mind when you think of truth-telling?
· Read Psalm 1.
          1. What are the qualities of one who is blessed?
          2. In what ways does living into this description protect us from lies?
          3. When have you experienced a turn from believing lies about something to believing truth?
· Mike Gaffney defined meditation as “pondering the Word in our hearts, preaching it to our own souls, and personally applying it to our own lives and circumstances.” How do you respond to this? What does it look like to preach the Word to our own souls?
· What keeps you from meditating on scripture? If meditation is simply pondering, what would you say you ponder the most on? How does meditation on that inform what you do and, more importantly, how you do it?
· How do you see a connection between meditation on scripture and truth-telling?
· What truths have you come to believe, that you live by and would encourage others to live by?
· What keeps you from speaking truth to others?
· When have you spoken truth and it has not been well-received? When have you not received truth well?
· What is a truth that God has been trying to tell you through scripture that you are struggling to believe? What happens when you name that to your group?
· How can you carve out 5 -10 minutes each day this week to read through and meditate on Psalm 1?
