The Critical Calling of Exile
Ezekiel 34
Abby Odio, Pastor of College & Career, abbyo@churchbcc.org

Ezekiel 34 paints a critical and compelling picture of the Christian life and calling. This picture is centered on the image of the good shepherd as one who is shaped by the following realities:

I. Shepherds use power to love.

II. Shepherds are shaped in exile.

II. Shepherds know the true Shepherd.

1. In what places and ways do you have power and influence in your life?

2. Read Genesis 1:28. What seems to be God's intent with giving humanity power?

3. How do you see power being used in our world today? Where is it being used for good? For bad?

4. Ezekiel 34:1-6 shows the leaders of Israel not using their power for love. How would you compare and contrast this to the image given in John 10:11?

5. Pastor Abby said that "love means taking meaningful risk." When you had had to take a risk for love?

6. Where have you experienced God's provision as the Good Shepherd during a season of exile? Where are you praying to experience God's provision today?

7. Read God's promises in Ezekiel 34:20-31. What stands out to you from these promises?

8. What does it mean for you to know the one true shepherd, Jesus?
