The 2020 Advent Devotional was created in tandem with a special Advent Box containing materials to complete each activity/practice at the beginning of the week. However, if you did not receive a box, most of the activities can be recreated with items from around your house or neighborhood! We look forward to celebrating this season of hope and expectation with you—share your photos on social media and tag us along the way @bethanygreenlake!

Peace Plan
John 14:25-27, John 15:12-15, Matthew 6:33
Eric Henderson, Senior Associate Pastor, erich@churchbcc.org

Three gifts to receive:
     I. The Advocate
     II. Jesus’ Peace
     III. Friendship

1. Eric expressed a tendency we share towards distractions, especially when life is hard. What distractions do you pursue?
2. This week’s sermon articulated gifts from God to us as followers of Jesus. What were some of these gifts and how do they contrast our human anxiety?
3. Do you or someone you are close to experience anxiety, depression, or mental illness? (Share only if comfortable)
4. Were there parts of this week’s sermon that you felt encouraging or challenging?
5. What may serve as help in your process of navigating anxiety and engaging in community?
6. Eric’s sermon and Kristen’s video testimony for this week described how isolation perpetuates anxiety and depression. In what ways are you prone to isolation and how has community been a source of healing and encouragement?
