Invitation to Wholeness: The Invitation to Generosity

Mark 4:26-31 & Ecclesiastes 11:6

Pastor Richard Dahstrom, Sr. Teaching Pastor

www.youtube.com/c/spiritsoulbodywholeness

Today we’re looking at what the scriptures can teach about ‘giving in all seasons’. We’ll discover three imperatives which, when taken together, can lead us into the land of joyful generosity—and this kind of generosity is life giving and healing to both giver and receiver.

I. We’re here to sow - embrace giving as core to identity

II. We have the good seed - access your storehouse for generosity

III. So Sow! - Declare your intent to sow, and do it!

Discussion Questions

Before questions, attempt to give the group a bit of a summary of the main points of the sermon and then choose a few questions that fit your group’s needs and style. We don’t intend for you to use all of these. Three to five questions may be a good number.

Begin by reading Mark 4:26-31 and Ecclesiastes 11:6 aloud, taking turns reading the passages.

Pray over the group before beginning discussion.

  1. Pastor Richard introduced the notion of giving out of our abundance. Where in your life is it hard to see/believe that you are indeed abundantly blessed?
  2. How have you been “building a fortress” to store up your blessings? Can you identify any “costs” to this in your life? (i.e. relationally, peace of mind, missed opportuntiies for generosity, etc).
  3. Christ invites us to an ecosystem of life characterized by interdependence. In what ways do you depend on others? Do they depend on you? Where are you missing this invitation in exchange for the “great lie” of self-sufficiency?
  4. Pastor Richard suggested that while some give of their “time” and others give of their “treasures,” we are all called to give generously of both. Which of these comes more easily and which is more challenging? Why?
  5. How are you experiencing God’s generosity in your life?
