Serve with Children's Ministry

Volunteer application

Without our amazing team of volunteers, the Children's Ministry at Bethany West Seattle would not be possible. If you enjoy working with kids or have a desire to support this ministry, we would absolutely love to have you join us!

Simply fill out the online volunteer application, and our Director of Family Ministries, Sarah Odell, will be in touch with you shortly!

On average, volunteers serve one Sunday a month. Volunteer needs exist in all classes.

Once a family decides to attend Bethany West Seattle on a regular basis, parents are encouraged to volunteer in order to be more familiar with the church experience their children are receiving, to have a sense of investment in their children’s church experience, and to model the importance of faith development through community directly to their children.

Sunday Children's Ministries

Children are a welcome and integral part of our community at Bethany West Seattle! The nursery is open beginning at 9:45am. Two-year-olds through elementary-age children join the adult service for the beginning portion of worship and are then dismissed to their classes to engage in faith-forming, developmentally appropriate content and activities.

The following Children's Ministry classes are available at our 10am service on Sundays:

  • Nursery (0–24 months)
  • Preschool (2–3 years)
  • Preschool Plus (4–5 years)
  • Kindergarten and 1st grade
  • 2nd–4th grades

*Preschool Plus is for 5 year olds not yet in Kindergarten.

If you feel your child is better suited to a class different than his or her age group, please see the Children Ministry staff on Sunday morning–we're happy to work with you and your family!

Keeping Kids Safe

At Bethany West Seattle, keeping kids safe is of utmost importance to us. Because of this, we ask you to register at our family registration website. On Sunday mornings, we have computers available where you can check your children in when you arrive, and you'll receive a guardian tag that's required for pick up.

Food Allergies and Potty Training

If your child has any allergies or potty training needs, please inform us on the family registration page.

Volunteer Screening

We screen each of our volunteers through a written application, a personal interview, and a national background check to ensure the highest quality care for your children.

Classroom Rules for Keeping Kids Safe

Our classroom policy states there will ALWAYS be two unrelated adults in the room (a classroom will not be open unless this criteria is met). We also subscribe to this ratio for bathroom visits and only use restrooms contained within the children ministry classrooms. If your child needs assistance in the restroom, the door will be left open.
