Bethany Governing Council
The governing Council of Bethany Community Church is charged with responsibility for the spiritual guidance, instruction, and protection of the congregation. It is also responsible for the overall administration and management of the church, implemented through the hiring and supervision of a Senior Pastor and approval of policies, financial plans and major initiatives.
The Council is elected by the membership of Bethany Community Church in accordance with the scriptural qualifications as set forth in I Timothy 3:1-10, 12. The Council consists of 7 to 11 members who are elected for rotating 3-year terms, with a maximum of two consecutive terms. A Nominating Committee is responsible for receiving and vetting applications to the Council and presenting a candidate for each Council vacancy at the Annual Membership Meeting.
If you are interested in serving on the Council or nominating another member for such a role, please forward the name and email address or phone number to Jim McClurg (jimm @ churchbcc.org).
In addition to meeting the spiritual qualifications of I Tim 3, an eligible candidate must be an active member of Bethany Community Church and live a life that does not bring reproach upon the Lord or His Church. Each should maintain consistent attendance in Worship Services and faithfully tithe what the Lord has entrusted them in time, talent, and treasure. Each should be in agreement with Bethany’s Doctrinal Statement, Constitution and Bylaws.
