JULY 28: MY WORLD - FILM NIGHT

Can mercy restore what genocide destroyed? This week we’ll watch the documentary film As We Forgive, which chronicles the stories of two Rwandan women, Rosaria and Chantal, whose families were murdered during the 1994 genocide. Their choice to forgive and reconcile with the men who murdered their families is a powerful reminder that the hope and forgiveness we have in Christ transcends even the most horrific situations.

Day hike along the West Fork Foss River trail into the heart of the Alpine Lakes to our destination of Big Heart Lake at 4545 feet. We will stop for lunch at Copper lake which has great fly fishing and swimming. We are rating this a difficult hike because of distance and pace(we plan to trail run the return trip, so participants should be in good physical condition), 14 miles round trip with an elevation gain of ~3000' over several mountain passes. We will leave the church at 7:30am Saturday and return around 7:30pm. Register online and contact Lisa Sali with questions.

Join us for this hike on one of the most spectacular sections of the Pacific Crest Trail. This is a more difficult hike, 11 miles round trip with 2700' elevation gain. Register online and contact Dave Monjay with questions.

Join us at Food Lifeline in Shoreline to fight against hunger. We'll be unpacking, repacking, and/or sorting food that will provide local food banks and families with food.
Meet at Bethany at 8:30am to carpool or meet us up there (click here for directions). We'll return to Bethany by 12:30pm.

Join us for our 2nd annual multi-day backpacking trip in the North Cascades! The Golden Lakes Loop will take us up and down two ridge lines, past numerous lakes, and through some spectacular wilderness in both the Okanogan and Wenatchee National forests. We’ll spend our time focusing on our Creator while being open to what He might have to teach us through His creation and our community. Rating: Difficult--Approximately 23 miles. Added Note: We hope to leave by 4pm Thurs, so please factor that time into your plans if you are asking for the time off! Due to the length of this trip, all participants will need to attend a pre-trip meeting on the evening of Thurs, Aug 26. Register online and contact Wendy Miller with questions.

SPECIAL NOTE: This trip will cover 20-30 miles in a 4 day period with some significant elevation gain while carrying a 30-35lb pack. It is recommended for those in good physical condition and with previous hiking experience (preferably previous backpacking experience).
