How long have you been working at Bethany, and what is it that you do here?
I have been the Pastor of Congregational Care at Bethany since February 2004.
My main area of ministry is pastoral care and counseling. I oversee the following ministries: Stephen Ministry, Deaf Ministry, Prayer Ministries (including the Sunday team, prayer meetings, Prayers & Squares, and the prayer chain), Bethany benevolence, premarital and pre-engagement classes, weddings, newlywed small groups and mentors, Spiritual Journey, hospital visits, funerals, Seniors Ministry, and Men’s Ministry.
What relevant education and work experience has prepared you for your position?
I have been a pastor since 1999. Positions include: Lead Pastor at Gibsons Christ the King in Gibsons, BC, Canada; Associate Pastor at North County Christ the King Community Church in Lynden, Wash.; and Small Groups Pastor at Bellingham Christ the King Community Church in Bellingham, Wash. I have a BA in Psychology from Whitworth College, and a MA in Counseling from Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. I am a part-time psychotherapist for individuals and couples at Restoration Counseling Services. I also have 13 years of management experience with Marriott Food Services.
What community activities are you involved in outside of BCC?
I’m an active HOG member of the Great Northwest Chapter of HOG (Harley Owners Group) in Lynnwood.
Tell us about other hobbies, and about your family.
I grew up in Burien, and married my high school sweetheart, Mary, in 1985. We have two awesome adult-age children, Ty and Chandra.
I love going to Mariners and Sounders games! Nothing better than enjoying a game with friends. So feel free to invite me to a game! I also enjoy motorcycle riding down curvy highways, and enjoy a really good meal with friends.
What famous person are you most likely to be mistaken for?
Maybe Tom Arnold?
