Pastoral Administrative Assistant

How long have you been working at Bethany, and what is it you do here?
I am an Administrative Assistant at Bethany, and I started working here in August of 2010.  I assist the Senior Pastor, Senior Associate Pastor, Worship Director, Executive Director, and our North and West Seattle Satellite Campus Pastors.

What is your greatest accomplishment that isn’t work- or school-related?
Technically this is related to a job, so I’m kind of cheating, but I’m really proud that I started a tradition of themed practices at Redmond High School while I coached girl’s soccer there for four years after college.  I had to give up coaching when I took this job, but Rainbow Day and Halloween Practice lived on, which I consider a great accomplishment.

If you could travel back in time to your high school graduation, and you had a full ride to the college of your choice…where would you go and what would you study?
I don’t think I would change a thing about my time at Whitman College.  I loved the school, the people, and even Walla Walla.  But I definitely wouldn’t turn down a full ride.  Also, I’d take a photography class.

You have been commissioned to organize a concert in commemoration of Bethany’s 100th anniversary in 2016. Choose a band, venue, and song.
MC Hammer’s “Too Legit to Quit,” naturally.  And I don’t think the venue matters, when MC is on the mic.  Totally kidding.  But I don’t know how else to answer this question, other than give a ridiculous response.

When was the last time you got stuck somewhere? What was the outcome?
In college I studied abroad in New Zealand and spent my “spring break” (which was actually in the winter down there) road tripping around Australia.  One night in Byron Bay, on the coast between Brisbane and Sydney, I got trapped in a cement walled public restroom.  Somehow the door jammed, and I immediately started to panic.  My friends outside laughed at me while I tried to figure out which flat foods could be slipped under the door to what was sure to become my home.  But alas, between the three of us coordinating our pushing and pulling, we got the door loose after about twenty minutes.  The outcome was me making sure I used the bathroom before we left the hostel for the rest of the trip.

What is one thing you love about being on staff at BCC?
I love being surrounded with genuine, caring people.  I look forward to coming to work every day, especially Fridays, when Cruz (our office dog) comes in.
