  1. Can you think of a time when you have moved from being a spectator to a participant of something?  What caused the movement?
  2. Can you think of a core value that you hold?
  3. Read Luke 6:24 – 26, where Jesus outlines the core values of the kingdom of the world.  How do you see the world’s values in your context?
  4. When has the kingdom of the world not satisfied you?
  5. Read through Matthew 5: 1 – 10.  How do you see the values of God’s kingdom in your context?
  6. The first step toward Christ can be in finding healing for your personal brokenness, in becoming a part of what God is doing among the poor, or a response to conviction through repentance from a specific sin.  What did your first step toward Christ look like?
  7. What might be the next step for you?
  8. The fruit of following Jesus can be seen in three ways – we’ll see our brokenness; we’ll be changed and called beyond our capacity; and we will change the life of others.
    1. Where have you seen transformation in your understanding of what it means to follow Jesus?
    2. How have you been surprised by the direction of your life?  Where have you seen God’s hand in your life?
    3. When have you sensed God calling you to something beyond your capacity?  How did you respond?
    4. How can you see yourself as an agent of God’s change in the world?
  9. How might God be speaking to you?  What does following Jesus mean to you this week?
