- Can you think of a time when you have moved from being a spectator to a participant of something? What caused the movement?
- Can you think of a core value that you hold?
- Read Luke 6:24 – 26, where Jesus outlines the core values of the kingdom of the world. How do you see the world’s values in your context?
- When has the kingdom of the world not satisfied you?
- Read through Matthew 5: 1 – 10. How do you see the values of God’s kingdom in your context?
- The first step toward Christ can be in finding healing for your personal brokenness, in becoming a part of what God is doing among the poor, or a response to conviction through repentance from a specific sin. What did your first step toward Christ look like?
- What might be the next step for you?
- The fruit of following Jesus can be seen in three ways – we’ll see our brokenness; we’ll be changed and called beyond our capacity; and we will change the life of others.
- Where have you seen transformation in your understanding of what it means to follow Jesus?
- How have you been surprised by the direction of your life? Where have you seen God’s hand in your life?
- When have you sensed God calling you to something beyond your capacity? How did you respond?
- How can you see yourself as an agent of God’s change in the world?
- How might God be speaking to you? What does following Jesus mean to you this week?
