Prayer

Recognizing prayer as a transforming relationship with God, offering equipping, and providing opportunities to engage God in creative, life-giving dialogue that will enrich, enfold, and support God’s kingdom at Bethany and around the world.

Prayer Team

Offer those attending Sunday services the chance to seek prayer for themselves, pray through a concern they have for others, or simply share in giving thanks for God’s blessing to them.

To become a member of the prayer team, please fill out the Prayer Team Application and return it to Pastor Phil in the church office. During the week the office is open Monday through Thursday 9am-5pm or Friday 9am-4pm. On Sundays, please put your application into the locked staff box on the main floor of the Sanctuary across from the bathrooms. Contact: Phil Maulding

Prayers and Squares – The Prayer Quilt Ministry

Can you touch a prayer? Can you pull it close and feel its comfort? You can if it’s part of a prayer quilt. The idea behind these quilts is simple, yet powerful. A heavy thread is used to take stitches through the quilt layers and the ends are left free to be tied with a square knot. As each knot is tied, a silent prayer is offered for someone in special need – someone who has asked us to pray for them. The quilt is then given to that person.

What makes each quilt so special is not the pattern, color or workmanship, but the fact that prayer is symbolically tied into each one. These comforters are a statement of faith and a testimony to our belief in God and in the power of prayer.

Here’s how you can be involved:

  • Join us as we get together monthly to work on quilts
  • Donate cotton fabric, quilt batting, or JoAnn Fabrics gift cards
  • Help with non-sewing jobs like cutting fabrics or inserting the ties
  • Pray when the quilts are presented to the congregation
  • Come learn how to quilt on our workdays and donate your work to Prayers and Squares

If you have any questions or want to be added to our contact list, email or call Deborah Ferguson at deborahf@fergos.com or (206) 632-1240.
